In just five minutes, your efforts can make a difference! Use the time during commercial breaks, or while waiting for appointments, or while microwaving a snack to boost the chances of Democratic victories.
IN FIVE MINUTES, YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE BY:
WRITING ONE POSTCARD. A double handful of this five-minute exercise, fit in at odd moments, adds up quickly! These can be written in advance of postcard-writing events for specific races where organizers have names and addresses, or they can be general get out the vote messages which can be added to upcoming postcard-writing events where names and addresses will be provided. Organizations such as Vote Forward offer names and addresses relevant to specific causes and political campaigns.
TEXTING ONE (OR A FEW) VOTERS. Political volunteering groups can introduce you to programs that provide lists of potential voters, as well as appropriate messaging and responses. Your efforts can spur a “maybe” voter to become a “definite” voter!
MAKING ONE “JUST TOUCHING BASE” PHONE CALL. Reaching out to someone you know in a state with an important upcoming election boosts the likelihood of them voting and spreading the word on their social media feeds, and may give you important ground-based information that will inform other activities, such as postcard writing or texting.
SIGNING UP WITH RELEVANT CANDIDATES’ WEBSITES AND EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS. Information from their campaigns gives insights into important issues for anyone doing state-specific outreach. This information can be incorporated into postcard-writing efforts, canvassing, or personal phone calls.
POSTING TO SOCIAL MEDIA ABOUT YOUR VOLUNTEERING EFFORTS. A quick blurb on whichever social media networks you use, along with links to relevant organizations, goes a long way toward expanding the impact of your efforts. These activities also build your network of like-minded people, making your volunteer work more enjoyable.
TAKING A SELFIE. Or having someone else take a photograph of you that you can use to accompany a written testimonial for a volunteer website, your social media posts, or anywhere else a friendly face would be welcome.
RECRUITING AN ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEER OR TWO. Whether through social media or personal contact, there is strength in numbers. Two and three are perfectly valid numbers.
BRAINSTORMING ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!
