The Action Group NYC was formed in 2022 (as The Action Group ’22) to galvanize voters and get out the vote during the 2022 midterm elections. Through our efforts, we helped mitigate Democratic losses in the U.S. House, helped retain Democratic control of the U.S. Senate, shored up Democratic candidates within key New York state federal races, and helped tip legislative control of the Pennsylvania state legislature to the Democrats.
Our efforts are focused around activating and ensuring every single vote we can. Our democracy is under a greater threat than it has been in our lifetimes, and volunteers’ efforts in helping Democrats win key races in the U.S. House and Senate, as well as many crucial local races around the country, are essential. Given the outsized influence hyperlocal politicians have played in state policy, the time-honored statement “every vote counts” in potentially winnable contests is more true today than it ever has been.
The Action Group NYC concentrates on helping volunteers contribute their energy to specific, must-win campaigns. We do so by collaborating with other organizations around the country to achieve national impact. We emphasize group action, often with a social aspect, that focuses on specific key races, as well as providing suggestions for individual actions for volunteers.
Through our actions, our volunteers ensure citizens:
Join Our Volunteers In Making A Difference
We are believers in the power of one, but also in the greater power of group action. Through our individual and collective efforts, we participate in:
Prior to creating The Action Group NYC with Elizabeth Sadoff, Anne Stonehill was a leader of Downtown East for Obama, which transitioned into Downtown East for Progress. She joined the Obama campaign as an active volunteer in 2008 and has continued to support Democratic candidates and issues.
Elizabeth and Anne worked together on behalf of the Affordable Care Act and Downtown East for Progress (Manhattan) before forming The Action Group NYC. Elizabeth has close ties to Philadelphia and volunteers with local political efforts. Elizabeth is the founder of her eponymous Manhattan-based art advisory.
We’ve raised our hands and let you know who we are and what we do. Now it’s your turn.
